Credit Card Debt

Credit card debt is a major problem in the UK, so if you're struggling with minimum repayments don't feel like you're alone. Before the recession hit, it was extremely easy to get credit cards with lenders often offering 0% interest on balance transfers and purchases for long introductory periods. Many people have found themselves with credit card debt they can't afford the minimum payments for, now the low interest introductory offer has expired.

Store card debt

Similarly, store card offers are thrust upon shoppers at every available opportunity. It's no longer possible to pay for a purchase without the shop assistant telling us about fantastic discounts if we take the store card there and then, and they can be quite pushy! Whilst the discounts can be a good idea, especially with large initial purchases, it's only beneficial if you pay the balance off immediately as the APR on store cards can mean you'll be paying considerable sums for a considerable period. A recent survey found that over 50% of those who had signed up for store cards in the high street had not intended to do so when they left home that day!
